Getting Started with Lorzi
Set up Lorzi and connect it to Claude Desktop in about 2 minutes.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, you'll need:
- Claude Desktop installed on your computer (download here)
- An active Claude subscription (Pro, Team, or Max)
Lorzi works with Claude Pro ($20/mo) — no need to upgrade to Max.
Installation
Mac
- Download the .dmg file
- Open the downloaded file
- Drag Lorzi to your Applications folder
- Launch Lorzi from Applications
Windows
- Download the .exe file
- Run the installer
- Follow the installation prompts
- Launch Lorzi from the Start menu
Connecting to Claude
Lorzi connects to Claude Desktop using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Here's how to set it up:
- Open Claude Desktop so it is running in the background.
- Open Lorzi and go to Settings
-
Click "Install Claude Extension"
This automatically configures Claude Desktop to connect with Lorzi.
What does this do? The extension allows Claude to propose changes to your files through Lorzi. Claude never writes directly — all changes go through Lorzi's review interface. Your files and conversations stay between you and Claude; nothing is ever sent to Lorzi servers.
Your First Project
-
Open a folder in Lorzi
Click "Open Folder" and select a folder containing markdown or text files.
-
Browse your files
Your files appear in the sidebar. Click any file to view it.
-
Start a conversation in Claude Desktop
Ask Claude something like: "Help me improve the introduction in my README.md"
-
Review Claude's proposal in Lorzi
When Claude proposes changes, they appear in Lorzi as a visual diff.
-
Accept or reject
Click Accept to apply the changes, or Reject to discard them and iterate with Claude.
The Propose-Review-Apply Workflow
Lorzi uses a three-step workflow that gives you full control:
Propose
You ask Claude to make changes. Claude analyzes your files and proposes edits.
Review
Lorzi shows you exactly what will change — every word added, removed, or modified.
Apply
One click to accept. Your file is updated. Or reject and ask Claude to try again.
Why this matters: Nothing changes until you approve. You can iterate with Claude until the changes are exactly what you want.
Tips for Best Results
-
Be specific in your requests
Instead of "make it better," try "add more specific examples to the benefits section."
-
Reference files by name
Claude sees all your project files. You can say "update the pitch deck based on the new financials in budget.md."
-
Review the summary AND the diff
Claude explains what it did in conversation. Lorzi shows exactly what changed. Use both.
-
Use snapshots
Lorzi can save snapshots before making big changes. You can restore previous versions from the history.
-
Iterate freely
Not quite right? Reject and tell Claude what to change. The workflow is designed for iteration.
Troubleshooting
Claude doesn't see my files
- Go to Claude Desktop -> Settings -> Extensions -> Verify Lorzi is listed as 'installed on your computer'.
- If not, install the Claude extension by going to the Lorzi App -> Settings -> Claude Integration -> Install Extension
- Restart Claude Desktop after installing the extension
- Make sure you have a project open in Lorzi before asking Claude to work on it.
Extension won't install automatically (Windows)
On some systems, the automatic extension installation may not work. Here's how to install manually:
- Locate the extension file: In Lorzi, go to Settings → Claude Integration → Show File. This opens the folder containing the .mpcb extension file.
- Open Claude's extension settings: In Claude Desktop, go to Settings → Extensions → Advanced Settings → Install Extension.
- Navigate to the file: Browse to the .mpcb file location from step 1 and select it.
- Confirm installation: Claude will show the Lorzi extension page. Click Install and confirm.
Changes don't appear in Lorzi
- Make sure both Lorzi and Claude Desktop are running
- Try asking Claude to make a simple change like "add a blank line at the end of README.md"
- Check the MCP connection status in Claude Desktop
